Here are a few comments and quotes made by competitors from sundays race.

"Thanks to you and your colleagues for putting on a great and challenging race. For a first event, and a linear Tri it all went very smoothly. I and my mates will definitely be back next year to be one of the 500 that the event deserves."

(David Halliwell)

"Just quick note to say a big thank you for what i thought was a great event, you can't beat a good hard race. I found every bit of the race a good test, choppy water, head wind on the bike and the xcountry run to finish. In addition the atmosphere on the run and finish line is the best i have experienced. The Castle Challenge has set me in a great frame of mind for the Helvellyn.

Many Thanks

P.S Can't wait for Castle Challenge 2010. "

(Adrian Mitchison)

"Just wanted to drop you a note to say a big thank you for a fantastically organised Castles Challenge race on Sunday.
I have just got into Triathlon in the last year and this was my first Standard distance!! Despite the fact I struggled in the swim and thought I was going to die on the run it was such an amazing atmosphere, beautiful location, and a huge number of marshalls who kept everything running so smoothly (and every one of them so encouraging!). Special mention needs to go to the marshalls on the run course. They were amazing at keeping the spirits up and there was no way they were letting anyone give up!
This was the hardest thing I have ever done but I really enjoyed it and has made me enjoy the sport so much more.
Thank you for such a great day"

(Charlotte Edgar, Glasgow Tri Club)

"HI Guys

You did a great job to put that race on, all ran very smoothly and very impressive!! This can become a huge race in the future for sure!!

It is nice to race a challenging course like that, much more what triathlon is about!! Organising the headwind for 42k on bike was impressive work indeed!!

Most finishers looked like they had completed a half not olympic, sure they will all be back for more!!"

Just to say thankyou for organising a great event, i'm sure this race will grow and grow in stature.
With the head wind the bike course felt more like 42 miles not 42k.
Looking forward to next year already.

Thanks for such a challenging race. Who thought of putting that hill by the castle in the run course?!!! Great organisation, very enthusiastic marshalls who should be commended.

Will be back next year.

I like the tough events and Sunday certainly fit the bill in a fantastic area. The swim nearly beat me, with the additional challenge of getting out half way for a run! Bike leg was great and well marshalled throughout with a great run course to finish. Well done to everyone involved in organising and marshalling.

We drove up from milton keynes and enjoyed a tough but great course....the swim although long was a great challenge, the bike was a good rolling course....with a head wind and the run was kept local to the finish (good for spectators!!) (Maybe a little more warning about the uneven run surface...played havoc with my oap ankles!!) :-)

The logistics of the event ran smoothly and all helpers were great (first name terms after the 5 lap course!!)

There should be a few more coming up next year as the boys at the club are intrigued by an olympic that is won with a time of 2hrs 26mins.....Gotta be a toughy!!

Cheers all, Rob Creighton (TeamMK)

A great event, well organised. Many thanks to the numerous marshals along the route.

Only minor comment is that it would have been good to start earlier, the roads were a little busy.

I'll definitely be back again next year.

A truly memorable experience! The swim was like being in a washing machine, but taught me a lot about my mental strength (or lack of it at times!). The marshalling and organisation was first class and the support from both marshalls and spectators was very motivating and I would like to send a huge thanks to all for their positivity and enthusiasm even for those of us at the back of the field! Well done also for keeping the rain off until we finished the run.

That was not something I'm going to forget in a hurry! But I'll definitely be back next year!!! I really thought to the start looking at the sea someone was going to come up with an alternative suggestion. Guess I'm just going to have to learn to swim better. Fantastic day though - thoroughly recommend it

Many congratulations on organising a great castles triathlon: The organisation was excellent, the arrangements at Bamburgh were good – especially the briefing, matting/carpet, T1 worked well; a good cycle route, T2 organisation was excellent, the run was tough (especially the uneven, ankle-injuring valley grass!) but (all) very picturesque.

I had a mate up from the South who also really enjoyed it

See you next year

Like everyone else before a fantastic event ,in a great location ,a mention must go the marshalls and organisers especially as this was the ingural event ,a great race on a challenging course ,i have raced in triathlon all over the globe and this was as good as any ,even monaco 70.3 without the weather of course ,this has potential to grow into a big event ,the finish arena in alnwick gardens created a natural ampe theatre and very spectator friendly, that short but energy sapping hill is the killer ,by lap 3. A great event .well done .simon stewart

I loved the race...Thanks so much for organising it. As has been said before..it certainly was a challenge but it was great...Ill get training into the wind and do some x country runs to prepare myself for next year!! A huge thanks to all the marshalls and helpers who made it all happen on a wet and chilly day. My trophy is most certainly the prettiest and most apt thing I have ever won :) Many thanks and congrats to everyone again, Jen Eilertsen.
